FATHER’S HOUSE UPDATES
Hi everyone –
These are updates written by a staff member at Father’s House about some of the things they have been doing.
As you know, the children who were living at Father’s House when Russia first attacked Ukraine were immediately moved to Germany and are settled there. However, Father’s House is still being put to very good use in helping children and families get through the trauma they are experiencing from the ongoing war
The updates and photos below –
To Father’s House a team of children from m. Kramatorsk, who do kickboxing came. They had 3 days of competitions held in the city of Bílogorodka.
Their coach is the only coach in the Donetsk region who remained to play this sport with children.
The enemy is 6 kilometers from their home and they have already adapted to the constant shelling and the horrors happening around them. On the way to the station, rockets flew over them and they did not know if they would even arrive. The ordeal was real to get to Kyiv But they are all very brave and brave kids.
When they arrived at Father’s House, checked into the apartment where we welcomed them, the children, finally in a long time, were able to relax and feel safe, even amid air disturbances and increased danger in Kyiv and the area.
Summer and autumn were a season of growth for father’s house.God has opened doors for new partnerships with great people and organizations to make ministry to vulnerable children and adults more productive and effective.
Together with the Institute of Child Development Trauma, we participated in organizing and conducting the second children’s therapeutic camp for children from families in crisis.
Father’s House took on the role of host and offered a wide range of technical and material support, as well as a fancy meal prepared by the Father’s House team. During the 24-hour camp in October, the room came alive with children and their laughter.
We are inspired by the changes in children’s lives we’ve been able to see through the wonderful therapeutic program offered by the Institute for Child Development Trauma and plan to participate in another collaborative project in Winter of 2024.
We adopted a mother with her four children from the city of Pokrovsk, who were evacuated by a partner with us.
It’s become very dangerous there now, so many people are forced to go and need temporary shelter. For this family, the Father’s House became a foster.
